Extreme Country Dance Club - History
The Extreme Country Dance Club was formed in 1998 and held its first dance on July 10, 1998, at the First Presbyterian Church of St. Albans, located at 201 Kanawha Terrace in St. Albans. The following week the Club moved to a gym above Dunbar City Hall and stayed there until the Spring of 1999. The Club them moved back to St. Albans for several weeks while members looked for a permanent location. The Club then moved to the Elk Elementary Center in Crede, West Virginia, just off of the Mink Shoals Exit, in the Spring of 1999.
The purpose of the Extreme Country Dance Club is to unite dancers and to promote fellowship through line dancing and maintain high standards within the line dance community; to promote line dancing, and to improve line dancing dance instruction.
